In April 2005, the first major stage of the IDENT1 project was completed, when 40 new Livescan terminals with palm capture capability were delivered to the Scottish Police Service.
The Police, Public Order and Criminal Justice (Scotland) Bill was published by the Scottish Parliament on Monday, 3 October. The bill enables the establishment of a new Scottish Police Services Authority incorporating SPC, SCRO, SPIS, SDEA and the Forensic Science Service. The Scottish Fingerprint Service will be established as part of a new national Scottish Forensic Science Service in April 2007.
