1983 DAVID R. ASHBAUGH
In the 1970’s and 1980’s, David R. Ashbaugh, a member of the Forensic Identification Support Section of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police carried out research into ‘ridgeology’.
In 1983, he published a pamphlet on the subject advocating the use of ridge shapes and sweat pores etc to support identification. In 1999 his book ‘Quantitative – Qualitative Friction Ridge Analysis’ was published which is a study of basic and advanced ‘ridgeology’ principles.
