Forensic SERVICES Roles
Listed below are a number of roles and areas of expertise within SPSA Forensic Services:
Forensic Toxicology - deals with the detection and identification of toxic substances in body tissues and fluids.
Forensic Chemistry - deals with a range of physical examinations including fireraising, footprints, toolmarks, paint, glass, counterfeiting, security dyes and also drug analysis.
Forensic Biology - deals with a range of examinations involving body fluids, for example blood, semen and saliva, and other evidence types such as blood pattern analysis, damage interpretation, DNA analysis and the identification and comparison of hairs and fibres.
Document and Handwriting Examination - deals with genuine and forged documents including handwritten and typed letters, driving licences, vehicle tax discs and also with the recovery of indented impressions.
Firearms Examination - deals with the examination of firearms, firearms components, ammunition and self defence sprays.
Fingerprint Examination and Identification - deals with the examination and identification of finger and palm prints.
Scene Examination - deals with the search of a scene to recover the evidence which can prove or disprove if a crime has occurred.
