National Fingerprint Society Conference 31st Annual Education

14 July 2006

The National Fingerprint Society's 2006 Conference was hosted by society members from the Scottish Fingerprint Service on the 17 - 19 March 2006.

Held in Scotland for the third time running, the conference programme at the Scottish Police College included a wide range of Criminal Justice, Forensic and Fingerprint related topics including:

  • The Role of the Procurator Fiscal
  • Forensic Entomology
  • The UK's Largest Murder Enquiry
  • Levels of Ridge Detail
  • Fingerprint Specific Case History
  • Forensic Archaeology
  • The Asian Tsunami
  • A Crime Writer
  • Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI)

The successful two-day conference included speakers from across Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and the United States, which made the event both memorable and informative.

The breadth of topics illustrated how the society, in looking to the future, sees an expansion of its membership to encompass those working in the wider forensic community. The 32nd Annual Educational Conference will be hosted by Welsh colleagues/membersfrom Gwent in 2007.
